Comment System

If you choose to make a comment on this site, you can optionally agree that we “remember” you by checking the box that will save your name, email and website url (if supplied). This is purely optional. If you do this, 2-3 cookies are set on your device to remember this choice. These cookies can be deleted anytime, the only result is that you need to fill out your name, email and optionally, your website url if you want to comment again. You can recognise these cookies as:

Statistical Cookies

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to learn about how visitors use our site so that we can make decisions. We do not collect any data that could identify you personally. All data, including your IP address, is anonymised before it is sent to Google Analytics servers in Ireland. We keep this data for 26 months before deletion.

You’ll recognise Google Analytics cookies as follows:

  1. _ga – set for 2 years. Assigns a randomly generated number to identify each unique visitor throughout their visit on our site. Provides visitor, session and campaign data.
  2. _gid – set for 24 hours. Used to uniquely identify visitors.
  3. _gat – set for 10 minutes Used to throttle the request rate, limiting the collection of data on high traffic sites.

Vimeo

We use Vimeo to embed videos on our site. Vimeo collects statistical data such as pages visited and videos watched. The collected is anonymised and you cannot be personally identified.

Advertising Cookies

We use Facebook to advertise. We also use their platform to measure the effectiveness of our ads on Facebook as well as display personalised ads to you after your visit to this website. If you are a Facebook user, this data is combined with personal data in your account to supply you with highly relevant advertising.

We use the no-cookie version of Youtube, so no cookies are set if you watch a video.
