3D Eyebrows – Diary of Embrowdery – Lida Hertel

By |February 13th, 2015|Categories: Fashion Makeup|Tags: |2 Comments

Growing up as a teenager in the 90's, Pamela Anderson eyebrows were the business. Overplucked, thin, round and penciled , the more alike the better. No wonder years later I was left with sparse eyebrows that never recovered. When Stella arrived my life changed upside down, as any mum would agree. Saving some time in doing my makeup all of sudden became the best idea ever and I took the plunge to get the brows done. Being Makeup artist I have a little eyebrow obsession. I can go out barefaced but I would always fill my eyebrows. After I have done my research, I knew what I wanted and where to get it :). I picked the phone and rang Elaine McParland from Up to my Eyes .It's a saloon based in Greystones where I trained as An extension lash specialist. Elaine was the first person to bring Embrowdery to Ireland. She trained in Asia where this technique is extremely popular. About the 3D Eyebrows: 3D Eyebrowdery also known as an eyebrow stroke or fathering technique. Unlike tatoos, they are semi-permanent and lasts up to 2 years. Little feather strokes are applied with a metal hand tool, that looks like like a blade. The strokes are applied only on the skin surface. The embrowdery eventually fades until it disappears, therefore there is no need to be worried, that your brows will change colour to orange, blue or any other colour over time. Embrowdery is ideal for people with over plucked brows like myself, after chemo, alopecia or if you just want to boost your brow colour or brow shape. After a patch test behind my ear I booked myself for procedure that takes 3 phases to

Wedding Makeup – Natasha and Richard – Seafield Golf & Spa Hotel

By |April 24th, 2014|Categories: Wedding Makeup|Tags: |0 Comments

This is one of the weddings that I remember very vividly. One of the reasons is that it was one of the scorching sunny days that we had last year, secondly there was a bee that wouldn't let go and thirdly I got to work with my lovely fiance Ronan. The drive on the morning of the 8th of September 2013 from Dublin to Wexford was full of surprises. Rain, lightening, rainbow ... you name it and as I arrived to my final destination of Seafield Golf &Spa Hotel, it was SUNNY for the rest of the day. Luckily for the couple Natasha and Richie. As I stepped into the one of the houses belonging to the hotel, hair styling was already in the full swing. Mandy, Natasha's sister was in charge of the hair and she was fantastic. Wedding makeup Wedding Makeup requested for the day was bronzed look with strong smokey eyes. Natasha followed my bridal skincare tips and it paid off. Her skin was glowing with help of Bobbi Brown Foundation stick and Bobbi Brown Shimmer brick. Everybody in the room was very relaxed as family friend and photographer for the day Paul Andrews Photography was snapping away standing in the window (on the ground floor)! and my very talented fiance Ronan Quinn Video recorder all the laughter, tears and emotions while I was completing the sisters and one bridesmaid makeup. And as my work was done I got a lovely kiss to get me home smiling while the lovely couple exchanged their vows in the heart warming civil ceremony and celebrated till wee hours. Would you like the full list of products used? Feel free to

Bobbi Brown Makeup Artist – Kathryn and Patrick Wedding – Malahide

By |February 11th, 2014|Categories: Wedding Makeup|Tags: , |1 Comment

When Kathryn contacted me for a bridal trial last year, she was looking for a Bobbi Brown Makeup artist. Bobbi Brown Makeup Artist As soon as Kathryn walked in and we had a friendly chat over cup of tea I knew why. Kathryn is just one of those free spirit, smart and pretty, next door girls who normally doesn't wear much makeup. She was was looking for Bobbi Brown Makeup Artist because the products are renowned for natural, flawless look and philosophy that just enhances your best features. Fast forward to the 13th September 2013, Kathryn was set to marry her sweetheart Patrick in Barberstown Castle As soon as I arrived to her family home in Malahide I knew it was going to be a pleasure to be apart of this bridal party preparation. Proud dad greeted me with a mug of hot coffee (can not function without it) and two adorable grandkids, who were over from Norway. You could tell right way by their amazingly snow white hair and beautifully sallow skin. Tight Schedule The girls followed shortly from the hairdressers down the road, as we were on quite tight schedule. Everybody was so relaxed so much so when Phographer David McClelland started to take photos, it took me awhile to even notice ( and that's a compliment!) . I couldn't believe how relaxed Kathryn was. Totally chilled out in her fifties style dress, looking incredible joking that she has her Converse trainers for later, which apparently she did wear. I love that look, but only cool can pull it off. Bridal makeup – Skincare tips – Lida Hertel

By |January 21st, 2014|Categories: Wedding Make Up Tutorials, Wedding Makeup|Tags: |1 Comment

My top skincare tips: In an order to achieve a flawless bridal make up look it is essentially important what you put in as much as what put on. We have all heard of the inner beauty and internal glow terms. I would like to share few skincare and bridal makeup tips that I have tried and I know they work for me and many happy past brides gave the same feedback. H2O,H2O,H2O The cheapest and the most beneficial thing out there. Water is free! Well, almost, should I say.You can do a small test on yourself. Push you skin backwards. If you see little fine lines, then those are dehydration pockets. You can imagine a flower without watering. It is dry and not very appealing. Your skin needs everyday watering also. It plumps the skin and flushes out all the toxins. Drink as much water as you can possibly face and you skin will thank you for that. The better the skin is the better the bridal makeup will look.   Lifestyle Boring I know. I have met so many people over the years that drink, smoke, party hard, work hard, use sunbeds, you name it in excess and think that get away with it.Let me break the news to you:" it will eventually catch up with you". Enjoy your life but everything in moderation. My advice is try to get little bit of exercise maybe on fresh air, eat healthy diet with lots nuts (they do miracles for hair, skin and nails) and try to get some sleep and relax little bit.   Cleanse Wipes are not cleansers. Your skin might look clean but leave a nasty residue on your skin. In my opinion you

Makeup Artist – What do I really do – Lida Hertel

By |January 3rd, 2014|Categories: Wedding Makeup|Tags: |4 Comments

Makeup Artist - how glamorous does that sound? To most girls it probably sounds very glamorous. I remember from working as a Bobbi Brown makeup artist in Brown Thomas that people thought that our main job is just to stand behind the counter all day looking gorgeous. Well, the truth is I love make up. I love meeting new people. Do I get star struck? No. We are all human with our little insecurities; otherwise you wouldn’t ask me for help, would you. I remember when Rihanna was choosing a lipstick and I told her that it wouldn’t be my choice. An hour later after nice chat, autograph in my pocket and her saying:” I’ll come back to you next time I am in Dublin, cos you showed me all the cool stuff’’ proved my point. When I have a face in front of me, I forget who it is. I see blank canvas and the different persona I can create. All that bragging aside, one of my favourite parts of my job is to do wedding makeup. Why? Wedding guests and the bride are always in a great spirit. Who wouldn’t be on one of the most special days of their life? The hair, the dress, the shoes-oh yeah, don’t we love shoes and the make-up, it all falls into place. Although I have the advantage of having lots of makeup and also the know- how to glam myself, we are all human and on many working at home days like right now this is the reality... Makeup Artist Well as you can see this is my reality at home and when you see that cute face beside me how could anyone want to
